Half Load Season - March 1 to April 30, 2026
The half-load season on certain municipal roads runs from March 1 to April 30 each year. Trucks are subject to reduced load restrictions in line with the Highway Traffic Act and By-law 2009-045. These measures aim to safeguard roads and bridges from potential damage during the spring thaw and prevent the formation of severe potholes, cracking, and deformation that occur when heavy vehicles travel on softened, saturated roads. Certain exemptions may be requested. For further information and the half-load map, please visit our Public Works page on our website at: https://www.bayham.on.ca/municipal-office/public-works/

The Long Point Biosphere Region was selected for funding by the Canada Water Agency to develop a Resilience Action Plan for the north shore of Lake Erie, from Port Glasgow to Long Point. Organizations across the north shore of Lake Erie concerned about flooding and erosion, threats to coastal infrastructure, and eroding coastal wetlands started organizing regular meetings to share experiences and consider options to address these challenges. The term ‘Working Group’ was adopted in December 2023 to recognize the growing collaboration. The Working Group is planning a series of Open Houses in February to share information about the project. Visit the Engagement tab on the North Shore Resilience website to register for the event you wish to attend.
