Half Load Season - March 1 to April 30, 2026
The half-load season on certain municipal roads runs from March 1 to April 30 each year. Trucks are subject to reduced load restrictions in line with the Highway Traffic Act and By-law 2009-045. These measures aim to safeguard roads and bridges from potential damage during the spring thaw and prevent the formation of severe potholes, cracking, and deformation that occur when heavy vehicles travel on softened, saturated roads. Certain exemptions may be requested. For further information and the half-load map, please visit our Public Works page on our website at: https://www.bayham.on.ca/municipal-office/public-works/
The Municipality of Bayham office will be closed for Easter on Friday, April 3rd and also Monday, April 6th, and will reopen Tuesday, April 7th at 8:30am for regular business hours.
For any roads, water or sewer emergencies, please call our after-hours emergency line at 519-435-6454.
Enjoy the Easter long weekend!
The Municipal after-hours drop box is temporarily unavailable due to construction.
During regular business hours, please bring all payments/documents upstairs to the Municipal Office or use the doorbell to the right of the main doors and someone will come down to assist you.
If you require any other accommodations, please call our office at 519-866-5521 to arrange.
Our apologies for any inconvenience.
On April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse will cross North America. Total solar eclipses are only visible within a narrow path known as the path of totality and Bayham is within this path. The solar eclipse will take place between 2 – 4 pm with the total eclipse to be visible in Bayham from approximately 3:16 – 3:19 pm.
As this is a significant event, it is expected to bring a number of visitors to our Municipality, particularly Port Burwell. In preparation of this, staff have been working with the County of Elgin and OPP to ensure safety measures are in place. Please be advised that Chatham Street at Nova Scotia Line/Bridge Street will be closed at Noon on this day as the Provincial Park will not be formally open and no parking along Addison or any side street will be permitted. Once parking at the East Beach has reached capacity, additional road closures will be put into place to direct traffic elsewhere.
Please obey all traffic and safety measures and ensure to have proper protective eyewear. A limited supply of eclipse viewers are available for residents at the Municipal Office or the Libraries free of charge. Once we run out of eclipse viewers, we will not be receiving any more.
A reminder that ALL of Bayham is within the path of totality so you do not have to travel to the beach to get a good view!
For more information, visit the 2024 Total Solar Eclipse page on the County of Elgin’s website.
